PORTFOLIO MARKETS

What the data says about our markets.

Population, job growth, and notable development activity for the eleven markets we track, pulled from the U.S. Census Bureau, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and named local reporting. We refresh this periodically and we are not going to smooth over a market where the numbers pull in different directions, like Indianapolis and Idaho Falls below, where population is growing and employment is not.

THE PICTURE AT A GLANCE

Where people and jobs are moving together, and where they are not.

Every metro below, plotted on the two signals we weight most. Points above the dashed line are adding jobs at least as fast as people; points in the shaded band are adding people while losing jobs. Hover or tap any point for the detail.
